Open Oregon Educational Resources has facilitated a course redesign sprint during Open Education Week since 2019. Funding supports Oregon community college and university instructors who participate in a one-week online, asynchronous OER course redesign training. The goal of the sprint is to redesign an existing course using open materials in order to save students money (preview the training in Canvas).
Since 2019, 203 unique instructors from 23 colleges and universities have completed the training and redesigned 226 courses (find their syllabi and other course materials in OER Commons). Open Oregon Educational Resources has paid out $233,243 in stipends. As a result, 32,122 students have saved an estimated $3,374,665. This represents $14.47 in student savings per program dollar spent.
Congratulations, sprinters!
