Wise use of fair use can be one of the most helpful tools we have to make progress in all kinds of intellectual and social justice pursuits. But unwise use can land us and our users into legal trouble. This workshop will focus on the doctrine of fair use, focusing on the more traditional four factors of fair use and also looking at the more recent consideration of “transformative use.” Join Kael Moffat, a Copyright First Responder and Information Literacy Librarian at Saint Martin’s University, for an interactive session that will help participants develop a more practical sense of the doctrine.
