TVCC Open Textbook Workshop

By | October 13, 2015

Earn $200 to review an open textbook

Are you an instructor who is concerned about the impact of high textbook costs on your students? Explore solutions to the textbook problem by attending a workshop at TVCC where we will talk about using Open Educational Resources and other strategies to reduce costs. Food will be provided!

Open Textbooks

Open textbooks can help alleviate the burden of textbook costs for students and provide faculty with content that can be customized for their course. Open textbooks are used by many faculty across the country, and licensed to be freely used, edited, and distributed. If there is a complete, open textbook available for your subject in the Open Textbook Library, you will be eligible to receive a $200 stipend if you write a textbook review after our workshop.

What You Can Do

Attend the Open Educational Resources Workshop — a two-hour session where you can discover open content in your field. All are welcome to learn more about reducing textbook costs for students.

The workshop will be led by Amy Hofer, Coordinator, Statewide Open Education Library Services.

Register for this workshop by Monday, October 19. Questions about the workshop? Contact Christina Trunnell ([email protected]) or Amy Hofer ([email protected]). You can also visit the PCC OER guide for more information about open educational resources.
