Open Books, Open Doors: Reimagining Nursing Education with Free, High-Quality Resources

Join our panel to learn about free, openly licensed textbooks and course materials for nursing. Both OpenStax and OpenRN will share how they develop and publish high-quality, evidence-based nursing resources, with the NCLEX as the final goal. We’ll also discuss search strategies for finding resources beyond these two publishers.

Presenters:

  • Angela Landry, MSN, RN-BC, is a Nursing instructor with the Wisconsin Technical College System and Open RN co-editor. Get to know Angela with a 4-minute video introduction.
  • Kellea Ewen, MSN, RN, is a Nursing faculty at Lakeshore College in the Wisconsin Technical College System and Open RN co-editor. Kellea is passionate about reducing student costs while delivering engaging, evidence-based nursing education, contributing to OER textbooks with learning activities, case studies, and NCLEX preparation materials. She is currently co-authoring new resources with the Open RN initiative, continuing her commitment to accessible, high-quality education. Get to know Kellea with a 6:45-minute video introduction.
  • Lindsay Josephs is Marketing and Communications Lead at OpenStax. As OpenStax’s higher education marketing and communications lead, Lindsay (she/her) blends her passion for children’s literacy with a commitment to advancing educational equity.
  • Rachel Milani, MLIS, is a Librarian at Minnesota North College in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System. Rachel is Creative Commons and Open Education Network Certified.
