When: May 20, 2016

Please RSVP by Friday, May 13.

8:30-10: Open Textbook Workshop
Attend this session on OER basics and discover open textbooks in your field. After the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to write a review of an open textbook in the Open Textbook Library and receive a $200 stipend for your written review. Your work will benefit other faculty considering open textbooks.
10:30-noon: OER implementation nuts and bolts
You know what materials you want to use – now it’s time to take the next steps towards redesigning your course. This session will cover how-tos for using and combining openly licensed materials, choosing a platform that meets your students’ needs, and ideas about assessing your open materials.
12-1: Lunch on your own
1:00-2:00: Course design considerations
If you are changing your course materials to OER, now is the perfect time to review your course design. Join us to discuss backwards design as a way to make sure that all of your readings and activities are aligned with your learning objectives – your students will thank you for cutting out the busywork!
2:00-4:00: Open lab time
Drop by the Library classroom to ask OER questions or work on your class.
Don’t see a complete textbook in your discipline? Contact Amy Hofer ([email protected]) or Tina Hovekamp ([email protected]) for help finding other open/low cost materials to support your classes.
This workshop is sponsored by Central Oregon Community College and Open Oregon Educational Resources.
