By | April 20, 2026

Accessibility is on educators’ minds right now because of the federal deadline to follow WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines. Making math accessible presents extra challenges because of the equations, complex figures, and other content types that are frequently used. Join this panel for an in-depth and practical discussion of some of the big topics to think about when creating accessible open math.

Presenters:

  • Brenda Gardner: Math Professor, Salt Lake Community College
  • Peter Keep: Math Faculty and Department Chair, Moraine Valley Community College
  • Leanne Merrill: Dean of Mathematics & Engineering, Lane Community College. Previously an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Western Oregon University.
