2019-21 Grant Projects Complete

By | September 13, 2021

The 71 OER grant projects in the 2019-21 cohort represent 17 institutions and saved nearly 20,000 Oregon students over $2.4 million in 143 courses during the 2019-21 biennium, approximately $5.16 in student savings for each $1 of grant money spent. This is very close to the cohort’s savings target, a remarkable result in a biennium that was upended by the coronavirus pandemic. Beyond the pilot phase it is expected that these fully accessible and openly licensed course materials will be used more widely and increase the student savings impact.

Because of the pandemic, some grant teams in the 2019-21 cohort needed flexibility with their project timelines. To review the OER created by grantees, visit the 2019-21 Grant Cohort Folder in OER Commons. As more projects are completed in the coming months, they will be added to the folder. For more information about each fund and participating institution, see the 2019-21 OER Grants Final Report.

The 2019-21 grant program began with 59 projects funded by the Higher Education Coordinating Commission, and by the Community College and Workforce Development (CCWD) office on the recommendation of the Oregon Community College Distance Learning Association. The CCWD funded 12 additional projects in Fall 2020 to support Major Transfer Map courses legislated by HB 2998.

Congratulations to our grantees and thank you for your hard work!
